I have been making tailights for my friends. ULOSE made it into Battle 2win magazine recently. These tailights are VERY VERY bright. Much brighter than stock. I do not know why I started making these things. I guess because I could.
This picture can be found on page
60 of the 1999 Spring issue of Battle 2win Magazine (volume 2, issue 4).
The picture was taken by Reg Kittrelle at the BattleTrax event in St.
Petersburg, Florida in November 1998. I won the Buell class that day so it was
quite appropriate that I had this light on the bike at the time !
If you are interested in Buells, Ducati's, Vincents or other
4-stroke twin cylinder motorcycles, this magazine is very very very
informative. Check out their website Battle
2win Magazine
Tailight approximately 70 milliampere (that is 0.07 amp)
Stoplight approximately 700 milliampere (0.70 amp) Compare this to the ordinary
1157 tail/brake light bulb that is approximately 2.5 ampere when both are on.

Most people ask me "how do you make them". Well, I am sorry, that is a big
fat secret. The most important secret is where to obtain the
light-emitting-diodes (LEDs) that are bright enough for use as a stop light.
These are literaly 100 times brighter than the brightest you can buy at
Radio Shack. And I have to buy them in HUGE quantities to be able to get
these at all. These things are really labor intensive because I have never
made two that say the same thing. I have tried to make tailights that are
interesting that do not say anything (like lightning bolt or skull) but I am
not an artist and they just look like shit. I encase them in epoxy to make them
water proof and vibration proof.
You may also be interested in some video shots. These were done by putting a television transmitter on my bike while racing. This was done as part of my other hobby, amateur radio. Those shots are on my Amateur Television Page or perhaps you want to go to my my Main Page.
